Neutrino Processes in Strong Magnetic Fields

چکیده

The processes νe +n ⇋ e− + p and ν̄e + p ⇋ e +n provide the dominant mechanisms for heating and cooling the material below the stalled shock in a core-collapse supernova. We summarize the major effects of strong magnetic fields on the rates of the above reactions and illustrate these effects with a simple supernova model. Due to parity violation of weak interaction the heating rates are asymmetric even for a uniform magnetic field. The cooling rates are also asymmetric for nonuniform fields. The most dramatic effect of strong magnetic fields of ∼ 10 G is suppression of the cooling rates by changing the equations of state through the phase space of e− and e.

Neutrino Processes in Strong Magnetic Fields and Implications for Supernova Dynamics

The processes νe+n ⇋ p+e − and ν̄e+p ⇋ n+e + provide the dominant mechanisms for heating and cooling the material between the protoneutron star and the stalled shock in a core-collapse supernova. Observations suggest that some neutron stars are born with magnetic fields of at least ∼ 10 G while theoretical considerations give an upper limit of ∼ 10 G for the protoneutron star magnetic fields. We...

Radiative Transition of Massless Neutrino in Strong Magnetic Field

Radiative transition of massless neutrino νl → νl + γ (l = e, μ, τ) in a strong magnetic field is investigated in the framework of the Standard Model. The process probability and the mean values of the neutrino energy and momentum loss are presented. Possible astrophysical manifestation of the process considered is analysed. Kick Asymmetry along a Strong Magnetic Field in the Process of Neutrino Scattering on Nucleons

The neutrino-nucleon scattering in a collapsing star envelope with a strong magnetic field is investigated. The transferred by neutrinos momentum asymmetry along the field direction is obtained. It is shown that the neutrino-nucleon scattering gives a contribution to the asymmetry comparable with direct URCA processes. Hence, the neutrino-nucleon scattering should be taken into account in estim...

The Influence of Strong Magnetic Field on Photon-neutrino Reactions

The two-photon two-neutrino interaction induced by magnetic field is investigated. In particular the processes γγ → νν̄ and γ → γνν̄ are studied in the presence of strong magnetic field. An effective Lagrangian and partial amplitudes of the processes are presented. Neutrino emissivities due to the reactions γγ → νν̄ and γ → γνν̄ are calculated taking into account of the photon dispersion and large ...
